Bring your bike and join the Brown Club of Rhode Island for a Narragansett Bay ride on the Seastreak Ferry from India Point Park, Providence to Perrotti Park Newport, followed by an Ocean Drive bike ride. The boat ride is 1 hr 20 min, with awesome views of both sides of Narragansett Bay, Prudence, Patience and Jamestown islands, passing under the Newport Bridge on our way to Newport Harbor, Perrotti Park. Parking is available at India Point Park.

Once in Newport we will bike ride the Ocean Drive loop (approx. 10 miles) returning an hour later to Bowen’s Wharf where we will have lunch at the Lobster Bar before catching our return ferry nearby at 2:00 pm.

There is limit of 10 bikes on the ferry, but you can also join us for the ferry ride without a bike and simply stroll around Newport and meet us for lunch at 12:00 pm. If you live in the Newport or South County areas, you can just join for the bike ride and/or lunch - no limit! Just be sure to register appropriately so a lunch reservation with a proper headcount can be made.

Ferry ticket cancellation is not possible but a date exchange can be made in case of group rescheduling still within the season which ends on October 12, 2026 for an additional $5 fee per ticket.

Join the Brown Club of Rhode Island at the Green Animals Topiary Garden in Portsmouth, R.I., for a family-friendly visit to a special and less well-known Rhode Island gem. The Garden has dozens of large, whimsical topiaries, a bamboo patch to walk through, and a great lawn with a view of Narragansett Bay. There is space for kids to run around and a beautiful Victorian house with shaded porches. If you'd like, plan to bring a picnic lunch as there are no food concessions at the Garden. We hope you'll join us for this fun-filled family event! 🌱🌸🧺

Our annual dinner meeting brought together over 80 people at the historic Providence Art Club. After our cocktail hour with live music, the performed before everyone headed upstairs for dinner.

Our dinner featured the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court of Rhode Island, John J. McConnell, Jr. ‘85, as our guest speaker. Chief Judge McConnell engaged in a fascinating moderated conversation with our new Vice President, Mary Maguire ‘80.

We also honored Kevin P. Tracy ‘85 with the BCRI Alumni Service Award. Tracy has served BCRI for 37 years, including as President and as Treasurer

During the dinner, we also announced Pascale Carvalho ’26 and Thomas “Tee” Gotsch ‘26 as the recipients of the BCRI’s Jean Francis Madeira “Excellence in Music” Award. This award is given annually to graduating Brown students in music who have exhibited exceptional ability and promise in their course of study.

Earlier this month, the Brown Club of Rhode Island, in partnership with the Rhode Island Football Club, attended an exciting game in which RIFC faced off against the Tampa Bay Rowdies during Hometown Heroes Night. BCRI members, alums, friends, and family got the chance to experience the exclusive pregame high-five tunnel and participate in a post-game group photo on the field. Despite the weather, it was a great night, and we’re excited to host more events like this in the future! 💙⚓⚽💛
