This month, we will be highlighting the interprofessional courses and activities offered at VCU!

IPEC 561: Interprofessional Virtual Geriatrics Case

In this course, learners work on small interprofessional teams to complete a case based exercise that follows an older adult across all settings of care. Learners analyze patient and family-specific information, enter discipline-specific data and information into a collaborative workspace, and respond to case-specific, competency-based questions as individuals.

To celebrate Interprofessional Healthcare Month, we are spotlighting the amazing programs fostering interprofessional education here at VCU!

Among our champions of interprofessionalism is the occupational therapy program, actively engaged in many of our classes and activities. Did you know? The American Occupational Therapy Association celebrated their 100 year anniversary in 2017.

The IPE Center would like to thank all of the occupational therapists for their dedication and interprofessional spirit!

This course brings together learners from 7 programs to learn the skills necessary for effective interprofessional practice.

April 7th, 2024 is World Health Day!

This year's theme is "My health, my right", which was chosen by the World Health Organization to "champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination."

Let's shine a spotlight on the incredible programs fostering interprofessional learning right here at VCU!

Among our champions of collaboration is the nursing program, actively engaged in many of our interprofessional classes and activities. Did you know? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are three nurses for every doctor in the United States! 🩺

A huge congratulations to all of the learners who participated in VCU's local CLARION competition this weekend! 11 learners from 6 different professions were represented, and one team was selected to compete in the national competition.

Chase Hedrick (pharmacy), Zack Hodgen (pre-med), Val Galemba (pharmacy), and Phung Tran (nursing) will be representing VCU in April at the National CLARION Case Competition at the University of Minnesota.
