Hollins Playwright's Lab

We are a high-intensity/low-residency MFA program in playwriting and new play development

The Playwright's Lab at Hollins University is a unique MFA program in playwriting designed to be more like an intensive workshop/retreat or conference than a traditional 3-year program. We foster inclusivity and collaboration not exclusivity and competition. You can get your MFA in 3-5 six-week summer sessions and work with some of the most important names in new play develpment. Regarding the page for the Playwright's Lab, Hollins University welcomes interaction, discussion, commentary, questions, and even criticism, but we ask that you keep your comments and posts relevant and respectful. Hollins may remove any post or ban anyone who violates these guidelines. In particular, personal attacks, inappropriate language, spamming, and excessive posting will not be tolerated. Hollins reserves the right to remove posts advertising commercial products, as well as those that violate Facebook's terms of service, or are inaccurate or otherwise objectionable.

Only 350 more days until our next Festival of New Works, but who's counting? 🎭️ 💫

Each summer at the end of July, the Hollins Playwright's Lab presents a three-day event showcasing workshop productions and readings of student work.

On the second night of festival, we shared a production of "The Gone Women of Eleutheria" by Adrian Lee Bush, directed by Shelley Delaney. Visit our website to learn more about our Playwriting M.F.A. program. 🔗: https://www.hollins.edu/programs/playwriting-m-f-a/
