Last Friday we held our Student Ambassador Fall Retreat and Leadership Training. The team came together to discover more about who they are as leaders and develop goals for their personal leadership styles. They also learned more about the Roanoke EnVision Center and its services and participated in a teambuilding Taekwondo lesson with our Ambassador Daniel Shelton. Student Ambassadors are campus leaders who help the outreach department with community and outreach events, new student orientations, and campus tours. If you're interested in applying to join our team next year, the application will open in April 2027!

Virginia Western Community College and Radford University celebrated a strengthened partnership on Monday, Oct. 12, that will enable seamless transfer for students in three health-related programs. Virginia Western President Laura J. Treanor and Radford President Bret Danilowicz signed the articulation agreements in a ceremony on the Virginia Western campus.

To address surging regional demand for commercial drivers and eliminate training backlogs, Virginia Western Community College is expanding its Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training capacity through a new strategic partnership with Ancora Training. The initiative expands upon the College’s ongoing partnership with Mountain Gateway Community College established earlier this year, giving local students immediate access to more training slots, flexible scheduling options and new credential pathways.

Virginia Western’s expanded model incorporates new accelerated Class A and Class B options through Ancora Training.
