Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Board. The College serves Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, southern Botetourt County, and northern Frank

lin County. Day, evening, and weekend classes are provided on a 70-acre campus located in Southwest Roanoke. Classes are also offered at off-campus locations in the area including the Franklin Center in Rocky Mount and the Greenfield Education & Training Center in Daleville. We had the pleasure of welcoming Senator David Suetterlein and Legislative Counsel Sara Gick to campus today for the presentation of Senate Joint Resolution No. 234, commending Virginia Western Community College on our 60th anniversary.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Senator Suetterlein and Senator Chris Head for patroning this resolution, which celebrates our institution’s enduring legacy of service, workforce development, and educational opportunity in Southwest Virginia.

During the visit, leadership discussed how Virginia Western continues to stay nimble and responsive to the evolving needs of our region’s students and employers as we expand high-quality educational pathways across our community.
