Hey everyone! Dues for phi alpha are due MARCH 1st. Some have paid last year and some still owe from then. All new people need to pay. You can also pay for the cords for graduation if you want them. I can take money via PayPal, chase pay, Venmo, or cash app.

Please join the Alliance of Coalitions, the Waterford Coalition for Youth and the Waterford Fire and Police Departments for a community-wide Naloxone training on Wednesday, November 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Waterford Fire Department. The training is free and anyone 12 and older is welcome to register. Everyone who attends will be trained on the proper administration of the Nasal Naloxone style overdose reversal kits. Oakland University Social Work Program
Oakland University's Social Work Program is seeking alumni who are employed as a social worker to serve on a committee to help us develop curriculum. If you have interest, please email [email protected]. Our first committee meeting will be held in February.
Oakland University Social Work Program
Volunteers are needed to help locate homeless individuals in Detroit during theses extremely cold days.
Flyers with contact numbers to warming centers and transportation will also be provided to stores, gas stations, barber shops and beauty salons, to encourage employees to call for help if they see anyone in need.
Assistance is needed on Friday-Sunday from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Volunteers are encouraged to ride in teams and patrol during a 6-9 p.m. shift or 9 p.m. to midnight shift.
Those helping will check in at Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries hall at 138 Stimson Street, between Woodward and Cass avenues.

Our usual meeting of 12pm-1pm will still be occurring today, despite the conflict of the Study Abroad Meeting. Board members will be present in Lake Superior B between these times to answer questions, accept applications, etc.

GRIZZFEST is happening! If you don't know, GrizzFest is a volunteer, community business, and involvment fair! Not only will your Social Work Club and Phi Alpha be there to give you information about our wonderful organizations, but so will many other groups, such as local businesses, who will be giving out samples and coupons to attending students! Many Non-Profit groups will also be attending, so make sure to visit if you are interested in information about how to volunteer or intern with groups like OUCARES, The Red Cross, Affirmations, The Boys and Girls Club, Winning Futures, and so many more!
GrizzFest will be located outside in the space between the Oakland Center and Kresge Library... you'll see all the tables!
Phi Alpha's Social Work Tutoring and Mentorship Night!
Every Thursday, Phi Alpha is going to be available to Social Work students on a walk-in basis to go over assignments, papers, exams... anything related to the Social Work Program! There is a schedule of sessions and room locations on the Phi Alpha bulletin board located on the 5th floor of Varner, between 512A and 512B!
Since classes have barely started, we're guessing you won't have much to bring to us... but we'll be there anyways! Come meet us, especially if you are interested in becoming a senior mentor, or are interested in having a mentor, or just to chat!
We will be in the Lake Michigan room in the Oakland Center!
Social Work Bonfire Kick Off!
We just want to kick off the year in the best way! Join us after the tutoring session to kick back and relax after successfully making it through a full week of classes! Bring something to eat or drink for yourself, or better yet--- something to share with everyone!
