RISING TOGETHER: The Divine Nine Sororities and the Road to November 3
Tuesday, October 6 | 8:00–9:30 PM ET | Virtual

The International and National Social Action leads of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Gamma Rho join Holli Holliday, Esq. and Karen Finney of 1 Million Black Voters Rising for a straight read on what is on the ballot, where registration and turnout actually stand, and what one million newly registered Black voters is required of us in the closing weeks before the 2026 midterm elections.

Sorors, this event represents the COLLABORATE, ACT, and EMPOWER in A.C.T.I.V.A.T.E.! Join the social action leads of each D9 sorority as we discuss our respective voter mobilization campaigns and how we can work together to ensure that we are !

A VOTER WITH A PLAN IS A VOTER READY TO RHOCK!

Election Day is four weeks out. Today you do two things: find out what is actually on your ballot, and decide exactly how you are going to vote it.


FIRST, KNOW BEFORE YOU VOTE.

Who is on your ballot? What offices are being decided? What ballot questions could change your community?

Find your sample ballot and research it all the way down. National races matter, but your school board, city council, county commission, judges, and ballot measures shape your daily life more directly than almost anything at the top of the ticket. Those are also the races decided by the smallest margins.


THEN, MAKE YOUR PLAN:

Am I registered and is my information current?

Do I know what's on my ballot, top to bottom?

Where will I vote?

Will I vote early or on Election Day?

What identification or documentation does my state require?

How will I get to my voting location?

Who are the 7 people I am bringing with me?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This month, we honor those whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer, including our beloved Soror Hattie McDaniel, who passed away from breast cancer in 1952 at the age of 57.

In her honor and memory, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. established the Hattie McDaniel Cancer Awareness and Health Program. The program was created to promote education, encourage early detection of breast, prostate, ovarian, colon, and other cancers, and support research focused on cancer prevention.

Today, this work has evolved into the Women’s Wellness Initiative, empowering chapters to address health issues that disproportionately impact women, particularly women of color.

We celebrate breast cancer survivors and honor their strength while working diligently to raise awareness and help create a future with more survivors.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. stands with survivors, honors those whose lives have been lost to domestic violence, and remains committed to promoting safety, healing, and accountability.
Domestic violence is not always physical. Abuse can take many forms, including emotional, psychological, financial, and digital abuse. This month, we encourage our communities to turn awareness into action:

• Know the signs and share trusted resources.
• Create a safety plan and check in on someone you care about.
• Keep these confidential, 24/7 resources available: Call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), text START to 88788, or visit The Hotline to chat online. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
• Share this message to remind someone that they are seen, believed, and supported.

Our legacy is service. Our commitment is to stand with survivors and support safer, healthier communities.
