Jacob and Tehya Bierle (pictured below and right) both graduated in Spring 2022 with degrees in English as a Second Language Education. Jacob completed a second major in Elementary Education as well. Since graduating, the Bierles have made the most of their studies through varied opportunities.

Did you know that learning Spanish can prepare you for a career in your own backyard? University of Northwestern student Joel Broberg says, "I want to work on translation and revitalization projects in minority languages groups. Knowing Spanish opens such a large portion of the world as a potential area to work in."

Delaney Fraser, a UNW grad who double majored in ESL Education and Linguistics, elected to travel to Paraguay to teach ESL at Asuncion Christian Academy for her student teaching. During her semester abroad, Delaney took Spanish classes, attended churches in the area, and made connections with local communities and missionaries.

Do you hope to make a difference in the world? With University of Northwestern's Spanish major, this is possible! Learning a new language opens a door to many possibilities. Andrew Barnett graduated in May 2021 with a degree in Spanish Education and is now living in Spain.

Andrew says, "The Spanish courses at UNW are incredible...I've been able to get involved at a local church, and my abilities have led to some very good and deep conversations about how culture influenced Christianity in different parts of the world."

Professor Jennie Yi has been teaching Chinese language course at University of Northwestern since fall 2020. She explains her motivation this way: "Christians who have bilingual and Christ-centered hearts can more strategically undertake the Great Commission."
