A barrage of lawsuits have been filed on behalf of California adjunct faculty demanding pay for uncompensated work including office hours and class preparation time.

John Martin, chair of the California Part-Time Faculty Association is one of the plaintiffs leading the charge and says, "We’re doing almost the same amount of work as full-timers and yet we get a fraction of what they get.”

It's expected that more lawsuits will follow as the fight for part-time parity and fair pay continues.

A group of part-time faculty from colleges in California have filed at least five lawsuits against the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and a third of the state’s community college districts, The Sacramento Bee reported Wednesday.
