Proctor Library

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff: With Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s Safer at Home order going into effect tonight at midnight, the Proctor Library will be closing today after 5:00pm. We will remain closed until the Flagler College administration deems it safe enough to reopen. We are still committed to providing you the best possible library service.

First, please remember that the Library’s collection of 250,000 eBooks and 47,000 full text journals are available 24/7 to all students with an internet connection. To that end, we have created two short video tutorials that explain how to search for and find these resources through our website at: https://library.flagler.edu.
Here are the links to these videos:

• Using the Proctor Library Discovery Search to Find EBooks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soj2avaejaE

• Using the Proctor Library Discovery Search to Find Articles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ6J6kQIREc

Second, our librarians are available online from 8:00am to 8:00pm, Monday through Friday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday. If you need any research assistance or have any questions about the Library, please reach out to us during these hours and we will do our best to help. You may connect with us via these two methods:

• Text us at 904-701-3509
• Email us at [email protected]

We are standing by ready to hear from you, so we encourage you to get in touch. Good luck, stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you again!

Summer projects are in full swing at the library!

This one involved pulling the Caldecott Award winning picture books in our Farrell children's collection, of which there are 62.They now have stickers on them so they're recognizable as such. Pictured below are some of the staff's favorites!

Also, interesting to know that Randolph Caldecott himself is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery here in St Augustine.

During the month of January the library created a bulletin board that encouraged students and staff to share their personal goals for the new year. Some were thoughtful and heartwarming while others were more comical and light-hearted, but all were wonderful contributions. From the Proctor Library staff, keep on keeping on, Saints! You’re doing a great job! 🎇🖊💭👍🏽✨

The Proctor Library will be closed on Monday, January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. We will maintain normal operating hours throughout this weekend:

Friday, 1/18: 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, 1/19: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, 1/20: 11:00 a.m. - midnight

Speaking of Dr. King, did you know Flagler College maintains a digital repository -- https://civilrights.flagler.edu -- that documents the St. Augustine civil rights movement? Included in the repository are multiple artifacts regarding Dr. King’s time in St. Augustine, including photos, audio recordings of speeches and press conferences, and government documents. This photo shows Martin Luther King flashing a peace sign in St. Augustine after passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
