Happy #FlaglerFriday! The St. Johns County Health Department has made a generous donation of 10,000 cotton masks to Flagler College. As we continue on in our plan to reopen campus this fall, we couldn't be more thankful for the opportunity to receive this gift during these trying times. We will be providing masks to those who are not able to obtain one themselves come this fall semester - and will be requiring the use of facial coverings for all faculty, staff and students on campus. This donation will allow us to provide further assistance to our Flagler family. Thank you so much, St. Johns County Health Department!

Fall 2020 Contingency Plan Update

The Academic Affairs Fall Contingency Overview deals with Academic Affairs and instruction-related supplemental plans for the Fall Semester due to COVID-19.

Flagler College releases Academic Affairs Fall Contingency Overview

A task force designed to prepare contingency plans for fall instruction in light of the ongoing pandemic has been working over the past month, and this past week the College approved the Academic Affairs Fall Contingency Overview.

Among other things, this approved plan holds to the standard academic calendar for the fall, which means the College will resume with face-to-face classes on campus on Aug. 26.

This plan will be the first of several communications in the coming weeks from this ongoing planning process. It is intended to provide a basic overview of contingency planning in order to begin to give you a sense of what we are preparing for.

Our aim in these plans is to preserve the integrity of the small classroom experience. Future communications will focus on a more detailed description of classroom use with suggestions for hybrid/hyflex instructional models, if needed, as well as scheduling and related adjustments necessary to accommodate proper distancing/health-and-safety measures.

While there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Flagler College, a case of coronavirus un-connected to the College has been confirmed in St. Johns County. Flagler officials are continuing to monitor the situation and are in constant contact with local Florida Department of Health Officials.

We asked our student what a Respectful & Inclusive Community meant to them to help celebrate our first Core Value of the spring!

This spring, we're celebrating one of our Core Values each month in conjunction with several offices and events on campus. In January, we focused on a Respectful & Inclusive Community with the help of our Office of Diversity & Inclusion and in partnership with student clubs and community organizations. Through this, we aim to cultivate an inclusive and diverse community that encourages civil and productive dialogue across differences.

Thank you to our students, staff, and faculty who helped us kick off the new year with these efforts!

This month at Flagler, we’re focusing on one of our Core Values: Respectful & Inclusive Community. Several events are taking place across campus to celebrate this, including honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this coming Monday, as well as our annual Diversity Week. Dr. Mike Butler, Kenan Distinguished Professor of History, joined me this month On The Porch to discuss his experience teaching Civil Rights history at Flagler, and how we can honor Dr. King’s legacy here in St. Augustine.

Traditions at Flagler, whether long-standing or brand new, bring our students together to create change, memories, and friends.

Traditions are what make Flagler College so special - and who better to chat about these traditions than our current students and alumni? Where does all this information go and are we really OK with our children being tracked in order to attend school. I think this is going a little too far asking the students to do daily check ins on an app?!? Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students: I am pleased to share with you that Flagler College has partnered with Flagler Health+ to bring the Saints Health+ app to our campus to help ensure a safe and healthy environment as we reopen this fall. The program provides complete exposure prevention, testing, and management with robust security and HIPAA compliance. Powered by the Healthfully platform, the solution contains essential technology features and health services to maximize safety and care, including: Daily self-screening and attestation Telehealth physician visits and lab orders Testing and lab results Secure messaging Contact tracing and proximity reporting Exposure management and compliance reporting Isolation & quarantine support communities Employee and student education Works on any platform: Web, iOS, Android The Saints Health+ app will have significant benefits for you; in the event, we have a positive case on campus, the platform supports quick identification of employees and students who have been in close proximity with a COVID-19 positive person. This efficient contact tracing approach reduces the risk of an outbreak and supports the safety of our Flagler Family. In addition, as we require a daily self-health assessment and attestation related to COVID-19 symptoms for the fall semester, the Flagler Health+ Anywhere app will provide a quick and convenient alternative to the current paper/Qualtrics form. The College is committed to the safety and well-being of the entire Flagler family, and I hope that the use of this app will simplify the self-health assessment process for our campus and aid us in our efforts to contain the spread of COVD-19 on our campus. A campus-wide launch is scheduled for early August. Students will be required to begin using the app two weeks before returning to campus. Additional information on the Saints Health+ app, including specific instructions for students about using the app before their arrival to campus and an invitation to download and join the application, will be forthcoming. Joseph G. Joyner President
Will the 6/24/20 town hall be posted for those unable to attend?
Is there any talk of the schedule changing for Fall? I see a lot of schools are cancelling fall breaks and not coming back after Thanksgiving.
I just want to say thank you to our Flagler Family. When we brought our daughter to Flagler from NJ four years ago we noticed signs all over town saying "Welcome Home Saints" Little did we know that it would quickly become home and she would decide to stay after graduation like so many Alumni do. She helped to usher in a brand new Major, Secondary Math Education, something that I don't know would have happened at any other school where the professors don't get to know their students. We've always felt she and the other students were looked after and safe, and we love that President & Mrs. Joyner live right in town and know the faces of their students. It's truly a family. We're sad not to be there to celebrate graduation today, but we will be there in December. Go Saints!
Since she was about 5 years old we have been talking up how great a college it is and that she should attend school there.. and 13 years later it happened!! Finishing up her sophomore year.. love Flagler!! #classof2022
Can you please explain what the current situation is with the dormitories and the dining hall?
Is this applying to Flagler as well? My daughter will be so disappointed, she LOVES her classes, the school, the interaction....... 🥺
Hey guys. Have you received anything from the College regarding additional steps they are taking for the corona virus? Seems like we should have heard something more since the first e-mail, a lot of my parent friends at other universities have received some sort of alerts about precautions being taken. For instance, are they locking down tours of Ponce where the kids eat? Just curious, would like to see something.
Dear Flagler Parents, The Parents Leadership Council (PLC) would like to invite you to our Spring Meeting and Reception. We would love feedback from other parents on topics relating to our students and this is a great networking opportunity for Flagler parents to get to know each other. Friday, March 13th, 2020 Board Meeting 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Ringhaver Student Center – Virginia Room Reception 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Alumni House Light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served. If you would like to join, please RSVP to Sierra Aitken, PLC Staff Liaison, at 904-819-6384 or [email protected]. The PLC has been a great way for my husband and I to stay involved with Flagler even after our daughters have graduated. That’s how much we love it! You can learn more about what we do at the meeting. I hope to see you there! Samara Gluck, Co-Chair of PLC and proud Flagler Mom.
Hello fellow parents: My daughter is a Flagler junior majoring in Fine Art. She is in search of a female roommate to share our 2 bedroom condo in the GATED Old Town Village community 10 minutes from campus. The room is furnished with an on-suite full private bathroom. The condo has a washer and dryer. The condo clubhouse has a pool and a small gym for residents. The community is mainly retired folks, families, and a few other students rent in there. My daughter has a cat that hates other cats but is ok with friendly small dogs. $600 a month includes utilities. I wanted to reach out to other Flagler families before we posted publicly. Thanks!
Our son was accepted to start in the fall! We are alumni so when we attended there were only Ponce and Lewis for dorm options. Do any male freshman live in the newer cedar dorms? Or is Lewis what we should request? We are filling out enrollment forms and I’m curious. Thanks!:)
I have a student flying home this Friday. Does Flagler help coordinate shuttles to JAX?
