Good morning and Happy Friday 🌸

Here's a little Rotaract Recap to close off this week on a good note. Many thanks to Dorothy Charron, who is a tour guide at the Castillo de San Marcos in downtown St. Augustine. We appreciate her very informative and historical tour of Florida's past, the Fort's inhabitants, and more! We topped everything off with a brief presentation to celebrate Women's History: Progress through Fashion, for this month of March. Also, thank you so very much to those who were able to make it out there, showing support!

Not all hero's wear capes: Cards 4 Nurses (card-writing event)

It was around last spring that the world as we knew it would be indefinitely changed as the Coronavirus pandemic effects were felt world-wide.

Throughout the globe, brave healthcare workers banded together, taking on the task of caring for their fellow human beings in unimaginable conditions. And throughout the unfortunate circumstances brought by the current environment, some have departed--but their memories live on.
Like precious jewels, they reflect the best of what character is; Courageous, Selfless, and Committed--while serving as a reminder that all hope is not lost.

Nurses are a model of such character. They are among the modern day masked heros that may not always wear capes but nonetheless, are shining examples of tenacity through the tumult.

The following card writing event is dedicated to Flager's nurses and is featured in two series. This is a collaboration between the St. Augustine Campus clubs of; Student Government Association (SGA), Dual Enrollment, and SAC Rotaract.

Beginning this week, our first card writing event will be on:
Wednesday, February 3rd from 9am-1pm in room L-112

The second card writing date is scheduled for;
Wednesday, February 10th from 9am-1pm in room L-112

We hope to see you there! 😊

Rotaract Club of St Augustine Campus

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of St Augustine, the St Augustine Campus Rotaract Club formed at SJR State in 2016. Rotaract bring together students to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills and have fun through service. Our members participate in many community service opportunities including sponsoring a Webster School Carnival book booth, visiting the Clyde Lassen Veterans home on Veterans Day, participating in Vikings FALL/SPRING into service opportunities, the Marine Corp Toys for Tots collection, the St Augustine ALS Walk, operation Gratitude letters to soldiers deployed from home and any other service idea that members present for the club to consider. The Rotaract Club also raises funds for local and international causes, like the 2018 Hurricane Dorian Relief effort in the Bahamas and the Betty Griffin Shelter in St Augustine. Professional Development is also a goal of our club and we try to schedule at least two students per week to attend the Rotary Club of St Augustine’s weekly meetings on Mondays. Members are solicited at Fall/Spring Club Rush but are welcomed anytime. We meet biweekly during the Fall and Spring Semesters and hold our planning meeting for the year during the Summer Semester. We end all our meetings with the Rotaract motto: β€œService Above Self.”
