OT student, Hannah Noble shared how her passion for making a difference in people's lives motivated her to become an OT.

"I choose OT because I wanted to do something every day that I felt was making a difference in someone else’s and my own life, however small that may have been. I knew sitting at a desk for 8 hours every day wasn’t going to be that. I have always loved the rehab side of kinesiology. The body always fascinated me!"

OT student, Daniel Dang shared with us his favorite part about the field of Occupational Therapy.

"My favorite part about occupational therapy is how versatile the field is. There are so many career paths to go down to help people function to the best of their ability. It all depends on what you are interested in. What other occupation will let you do therapy by horseback riding with children or box with the geriatric population?"

Finals week is upon us and we'd like to offer a few tips to help keep you sharp during testing!

Tip #1 Plan accordingly and get the appropriate amount of sleep. During these times it's easy to get distracted with other projects, social media or streaming services - and end up having an all-night cram session. Remember, fatigued brains don't retain information well so try and get a good 7-8 hours of rest.

OT student, Kelsie Fournier shared how her passion for helping children and their families is what inspired her to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy.

"I chose to get into OT while working as an office manager of a speech pathology clinic, I met so many children who were seeing an OT for a variety of conditions, and I just found it so interesting and amazing the impact the OT had on not only the child's life but also the entire family. I love how dynamic the field of occupational therapy is, and how each day will be a new adventure."

DPT student, Derwin Hall, worked as a hospital PT Tech and found his passion for practice while collaborating with peers and working with patients.

"It was the encouragement of PT’s at the hospital that I worked with during my time as a PT Tech...Furthermore, there were patients who encouraged me to persevere through obstacles...I encourage current clinicians to ‘adopt a tech’ because encouragement and belief in someone is a powerful tool and it was the catalyst to get me to USA-Austin."
