Public Events and Tours delayed until after Sept. 1

As Flagler College continues to develop plans to bring students back for face-to-face classes on campus this fall, our primary focus is protecting the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff. As part of this plan, the College has elected to push back decisions on allowing outside event scheduling, non-essential visitors, historic tours and other members of the public on our campus until after Sept. 1, 2020.

On the north side of the carriage drive, a half-round stained glass window mimics those in the Dining Room. This window features an urn flanked by shields with blue ovals. Located under the Dining Room, was once located a bar, workshop, and children's playroom. This area is now home to classrooms and the Learning Resource Center for Flagler.

When the Grand Parlor was used during the hotel, it provided direct access to the hotel's west wing, this wing contained Flagler's private suite of rooms. This suite was used by President and Mrs. Cleveland during their five visits. For VIP guests, such as these, the Grand Parlor was closed to other hotel guests. During the rewiring, supplemental lighting was provided by one hundred (100) gilded paper-māché lion's head lights designed by Carrère & Hastings. The plumbing was retrofitted with pipes extending through the roof for better ventilation.
