While this spring's Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition from the Federal Bar was canceled in Washington because of COVID, the 40 teams from schools across the country still had already submitted briefs ahead of time.

We’ve learned that Mitchell Hamline students Gabriel Ramirez-Hernandez and Caleb Gerbitz had the highest scoring brief!

Congrats to our students, and their coaches, Andrew Wilson and Robert Yount. Shout out to Deb Lange for her support, as well.

The Olivia and Howard Geller Foundation for Patient Safety

During the ongoing pandemic, we’ve heard from alumni, faculty, staff, and students looking for ways to get involved and help others. We've compiled a list of projects in which members of the Mitchell Hamline community are participating.

For example, you could help two alums raise money through their foundation to supply hospitals with tablets, so patients and families who are separated can communicate.

(Please share any other examples of Mitchell Hamline community members soliciting help from others!)

We were featured in the Mitchell Hamline School of Law website "News" section! Many thanks from alumni Linda Geller Axelrod and Len Axelrod! https://mitchellhamline.edu/news/2020/04/30/youve-asked-how-can-we-help-here-are-some-ways/?fbclid=IwAR1nCSmx6vGxwW8FVgd_khPddp42z5kIFgr4X1M8-GO1otyr09L8QVdGilQ

How Mitchell Hamline makes you ready to be a lawyer the day you graduate

Mitchell Hamline operates the only program of its kind in Minnesota that connects law students with incarcerated people. The students represent these clients in court on civil legal issues, primarily on matters around family law, prison conditions litigation, and tort defense.

It's one of the ways our hands-on clinical learning makes students ready to be lawyers the day they graduate.

The director of this program, professor (and alum!) Brad Colbert '85 describes the work in this video we created for our newly-admitted students. We continue to connect with our admitted students virtually and hope to see all of them this fall.

The Olivia and Howard Geller Foundation, formed by Linda (JD '86) and Lenny (JD '82) Axelrod, recently donated tablets to hospitals to keep COVID-19 patients in contact with their families during isolation. The fundraising drive was recognized on WCCO news to get the word out. Please consider a tax-deductible donation (of any amount) so we can purchase more tablets for patient use. We purchased 75 tablets but we need more, as the response from hospitals has been overwhelming! Find out more information about how to donate at The Olivia and Howard Geller Foundation for Patient Safety at http://www.gellerfoundationforpatientsafety.org Thank you all for considering to donate!!
Hello students, I'm a Star Tribune reporter looking for student opinions on this semester's grading policy. I received a letter from a student group that opposed the optional pass/fail decision because they believe the only students who will have to take a "pass" are the ones who have been the most disrupted by the coronavirus and that a "pass" will hurt their transcripts. Thoughts on this? I'm at 612-226-4030 or [email protected]. Writing/Reporting on this through Thursday morning. Thanks, Erin Adler
It's tough enough to take the time and to sacrafice so much to study and succeed in law only to have a pandemic cancel graduation, but to not recognize the achievements of so many students that will not receive the awards they've earned is a travesty. You as a school of higher learning can do better and your graduating students deserve better.
Hello, I was inquiring to see if Mitchell Hamline accepts Bachelor degrees from University of The People to be accepted into the law school?
Hello fellow MHSL students and alumni. I need your help. I’m doing some additional research to complete my long paper. If you could take 2 minutes to fill out a quick survey I created, I’d be grateful! All responses are collected anonymously. Here’s the link to the survey and I would appreciate you sharing this with others to fill out. I’d like to gather as much data as I can. Thanks in advance!!
Thankful for Mitchell Hamline School of Law! Mitchell Hamline School of Law included in the top five rising law schools in the country! Currently recognized as a top 5 program by US News for Dispute Resolution and a top 15 program for Health Care Law, Mitchell Hamline is an incredible law school on the rise. It is perhaps the best independent law school in the country when it comes to employment; in its class of 2018, approximately 90% of students found employment within 9 months of graduation in a JD-required position. Mitchell Hamline has over 20,000 alumni practicing throughout the country, which is part of what makes this school so special; the alumni network contribute to the school in the form of donations as well as offering jobs to graduating students. However, what makes Mitchell Hamline truly remarkable is what goes on in their legal clinic program. In this unique program, students help clients who cannot afford the services of a lawyer. Students from Mitchell Hamline have helped clients through immigration issues, tenant-landlord disputes, establishment of non-profits, and more. This pro bono work provides students an experiential foundation for work in the real world. It is perhaps no wonder then that many graduates of Mitchell Hamline have gone into the highest sectors of public service; numerous senators, congressmen, judges, and more call themselves graduates of this prestigious, rising law school. ‪Yes!‬ ‪Mitchell Hamline School of Law included in the top five rising law schools in the country!
