One important goal is to provide engaging and rigorous STEM majors to students seeking careers in aerospace, biotechnology, bioinformatics, biomedicine, computational science, cybersecurity, environmental science, green technologies, geosciences, mechanical engineering, science and mathematics teaching, technology entrepreneurship and many other fields. Indeed, through its mission, Salisbury University is committed to graduating students who are recruited by the best employers and graduate schools and who will contribute to the economic and social vitality of the state and the nation. Given that graduates of STEM disciplines are critically needed to keep the U.S. labor force innovative and competitive, our goal is to foster accessible, effective STEM majors and to prepare outstanding educators for science and math teaching. We also seek to support K-12 science and mathematics education through several outreach programs that include support for inservice teachers, elementary through high school students, and the greater community.

TODAY: The Henson Physical Science Seminar Series welcomes SU Chemistry alumnus Matt Bowler, currently a Post Baccalaureate CRTA fellow in the Optical Microscopy and Analysis Laboratory within the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health. He will present a seminar entitled "Unraveling centrosome architecture by super resolution microscopy” beginning at 4:00pm in 103 Henson. Light refreshments will be available beginning at 3:30pm.

Congratulations to the 36 SU undergraduates who were competitively selected to attend the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) at Oklahoma Central University from April 4-7, 2018. NCUR is the largest undergraduate research conference in the country for students to present their research projects. This year there were over 4,100 students from all 50 states, plus 19 other nations. Of the 406 universities represented at NCUR, Salisbury University had the 18th highest number of student presenters! We are proud of all of the hard work that the students and their advisors have accomplished.
