The Scarab

The Scarab The Scarab is Salisbury University's literary journal based out of Salisbury, Maryland. For over 25 years, The Scarab has served as a platform for creative expression for the students of Maryland's Salisbury University.

Reading period is from September 15th, 2015 through December 1st, 2015. Please send your works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and visual art to the following address:

Join us for the Official Launch of the Scarab (May 2nd at 8pm in Perdue 156). We are also blessed to have Chelsea Dingman, the author of Thaw (2017) and What Bodies Have I Moved (2018) reading for us.


The launch of this year’s edition will be May 2nd in Perdue 156 at 8pm! Make sure to pick up your free contributor’s copy!

Copies will also be available to the public.

We can not wait to show you what we’ve conjured up.


This year's edition is looking for outstanding visual arts, poetry and prose submissions!

Submission guidelines: 3-5 poems, up to 10 pages of fiction or non-fiction and visual arts of any medium

The deadline for this year is December 10th, 2018

Come out for the official launch of this year's edition of The Scarab. Mark your calendars for our launch alongside a reading out of Salisbury University's "Writers on the Shore" series done by Amina Gautier.

This event will take place in Perdue Hall 156 at 8pm on May 3rd. We hope to see you there!

Scarab Submissions deadline is on December 15th, 2016!
We are looking for 3-5 poems and/or 10 pages of fiction and non-fiction per submission. Also, we are interested in viewing your artwork and photography, which could end up on the cover of this year's Scarab.
