Join us for the Writer's On the Shore reading series this Wednesday, September 18 at 8pm in the Worcestor room at the Commons, for a reading and talk by SU Professor Emeritus Bill Zak. Zak will be presenting from his new book A Mirror for Lovers: Shake-speare's Sonnets as Curious Perspective, which seeks to identify in Shakespeare's sonnet sequence, the structural and thematic features of the satirical tradition born in Plato's Symposium. Ewan Fernie, professor and chair of Shakespeare studies at the Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham, describes Zak's book as offering a "powerful new vision of Shakespeare's most important as well as most fiendishly difficult poems. It will renew the Sonnets for their present readers in the most moving and surprising ways."
