SALEM, Va. - For Patti Gerckens, the journey began 19 years ago. She was a young coach from New Jersey who inherited a program that had seen four head coaches in the previous six seasons. She had one part-time assistant. The team went 6-28 in her first season.

Happy (belated) Mother's Day! Read about this San Diego mom who spent her first Mother's Day in the newborn intensive care unit at the UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest, where her son Joey was born at the just 1 lb 13 oz.

A year ago, Andrea Wanner spent most of her first Mothers Day in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest. Her son Joey was just three weeks old.

A UC San Diego researcher says she's found data that supports the assertion put forth by Amy Chua, AKA the Tiger Mother, in her book, that Asian students spend more time on school work that students from other ethnic groups. Read our story to find out more.
