Theater alums Jerik Fernandez and Jasmine Flora are heading to the Edinburgh Fringe with Dacha Theatre!

“In Dacha’s original Dice format, a virtuosic ensemble of actors memorizes the entire script of a classical text and the roles are randomized at the start of each performance. What happens next is live theater without a safety net.

Shakespeare Dice: As You Like It gives Shakespeare’s beloved comedy the Dice treatment with a honky-tonk twist: The Forest of Arden is an immersive dive bar with karaoke, line dancing, and cowboys, and you’re invited to join us for a drink and a two-step...
Hope you can keep up!”

The creativity of Cornish Theater grads takes many forms in many venues. Here is a profile of the work of Theater alums Maya Burton and Lexi Chipman at Oregon's Storybook Theatre, dedicated to sparking the creativity of young people.

“Theater, for many students, can be a place to not only grow academically but personally. Creativity, empathy, and self-confidence are just the beginning of what theater can do. It changed my life for the better; I hope I can do the same for others,” says Maya Burton, executive director at Storybook Theatre (SBT) in Cottage Grove.

Cornish in Houston TX! The HOUSTON PRESS covers the opening of a new play featuring Oriignal Wirks alum Marissa Castillo, who also heloed develop the script through her theater company.
"...it’s obvious Lupe cares deeply for her family and played with depth by Marissa Castillo, she’s a character that expands beyond what is written on the page. A note here about Castillo and this production. That Drive Thru Monterey is the first full production to come out of the Stages’ Sin Muros Latinx Theater Festival. Castillo is not just a performer but also works passionately as the co-founder of a Latinx theater Company, giving an important voice to her community. So it was especially meaningful to see her included in this cast."

Cornish alum Sara Porkalob, '12, is redefining solo performance with Dragon Mama—a two-hour, one-woman show where she embodies 28 characters.

“I have never seen a young Filipina le***an coming-of-age story that is empowering and hopeful and not tragic.”

Through humor, music, and raw storytelling, Porkalob traces three generations of Filipina women navigating immigration, identity, and survival—building the stories she didn’t see growing up.

Read more about her process and the Dragon Cycle trilogy, work that she first dreamt up at Cornish. ⬇️
