When I think back on these past four years the memories that come to mind are the late-night talks, side quests, karaoke sessions, movie nights, vacation trips I’ve shared with my sisters. I truly cannot imagine a world without them. There was a time when we learned the whole choreography of Worldwide by Big Time Rush and would constantly perform it to our roommates and friends. Also, for most of our car karaoke sessions the songs that would always be on queue were Obsesión, Por Un Beso, and Worldwide. The friendships I have built fill my life with so much love and joy.
Through my time in KDChi, I’ve had the privilege to gain so many life experiences, knowledge, and friendships. When I think back to freshman year, I remember feeling lost, isolated, and overwhelmed to say the least. I was so scared to take up space. I was so ready to give up, drop out, and move back to my hometown. However, KDChi provided me a home, where I learned to take up space, advocate for myself, organize events, have hard conversations, and overall allow myself to be vulnerable. Being surrounded by strong and powerful women has inspired me to continue pushing towards my dreams and goals.
My biggest piece of advice for undergraduate students is to live in the moment and to take a leap of faith every once in a while. My best experiences and moments of life have been the ones that were never planned. Take the time to be young and spontaneous!
