Throwback to our Take Back the Night panel featuring amazing speakers from Downtown Women’s Center, Peace Over Violence, and USC’s CARE-SC! As part of SAGE’s SAAM programming, our Director of Advocacy for Take Back the Night, Karen, developed, coordinated, and facilitated the panel, which highlighted supporting survivors, barriers to reporting, and practicing self-care. Panelists also shared insights about their work in crisis response, education, and housing. Thank you to our speakers for joining us, and to for covering the event! Join us for an interactive speaker event and workshop with Sophie Sandberg, the founder of Catcalls of NYC 🐈 🗣️ — a grassroots initiative using chalk art activism to fight street harassment and uplift survivors’ voices. ✍️🌈✨

Through bold sidewalk art created from chalk, Catcalls of NYC is reclaiming public space and sparking conversations about gender-based harassment. In this workshop, Sophie will lead a powerful discussion about street harassment, guide a story-sharing activity, and invite participants to “Chalk Back” together — using chalk to raise awareness, educate others, and build community.

Come hear how the movement began, explore how social media and art intersect, and take part in a creative activity that makes your voice seen and heard. 💬🖍️ 🌟
