Throwback Thursday to one of the most versatile special teams players in Wittenberg history
Will Gingery made his mark on the Tigers’ special teams unit, becoming a weapon as both a kicker and punter throughout his career from 2013–16.
A Bexley, Ohio, native, Gingery earned the starting punter role as a freshman and continued to expand his responsibilities each season. In 2015, he averaged 42.3 yards per punt, recorded a career-long 69-yard punt, and pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line 15 times. As a placekicker, he connected on six of seven field goals, including a 47-yarder, while converting all 11 extra-point attempts.
His performance earned him First-Team All-NCAC honors for punting, Second-Team All-NCAC honors for kicking, and D3football.com All-North Region recognition.
Gingery took his game to another level during his senior season, leading the nation with 17 field goals made and ranking third nationally with a 44.6-yard punting average. He also delivered a crucial 69-yard punt against Wabash to help seal one of the Tigers’ biggest victories of the season. His outstanding campaign earned him invitations to multiple Division II and III all-star games.
After college, Gingery pursued his dream of playing professional football before an ACL injury forced him to take a different path. He redirected his competitive drive into real estate and coaching, becoming a Realtor and returning to Bexley High School to coach young athletes. Today, he continues to make an impact in his community, helping clients navigate important decisions and developing the next generation through sports.
From record-setting performances on the field to serving his community beyond it, Gingery embodies the perseverance and adaptability that define a Tiger.
