The Outstanding Omega Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® kicked off the second half of our program year with our 2026 Leadership Retreat!

Day 2: “Poised in Purpose & Pearls”gave members the jumpstart on effective chapter operations.

The morning started with breakfast and our September chapter meeting. President, Dr. Genita Lathan & Chaplin, Shawn Calhoun kicked off the Retreat with a warm welcome & a powerful meditation, respectively!

In step with the theme, the PEARL portion of the retreat allowed ONO sisters an opportunity to get to know each other a little better and participate in a Sisterly Relations pearl pin swap.

During the POISED sessions, sisters engaged in topics such as: Preparation for Leadership (Dr. Grenita), Sisterly Communication (Dr. Aleze Fulbright), Sorority & Chapter history & documents (Lashonette Kemp), EAF (Dr. Nicole West), Risk Management (Shawn Calhoun), Protocol (Dr. Grenita), Social Action (Dr. Ashley Houston), Robert’s Rules (Tujuania Reese, Esq.) & our new foundation-Cultured Pearls of the Ozarks Foundation (Dr. J. Camille Hall).

Day 2 ended with the theme of PURPOSE. Members engaged in our new international focus of “Championing Service, Empowering Sisterhood, Transforming the World”. This session was lead by our Vice President, Dr. Michele Smith.

The Poised in Purpose & Pearls Leadrrship Retreat day was sisterly, informative, interactive & just what we needed to finish the year strong and connected!

The 2026 Leadership Retreat Committee members were: Dr. Michele Smith, Roberta Martin, Serenity Sosa, & Lashonette Kemp, Chairman.

💗💚 GOAL SMASHED! 💚💗

This weekend, the Outstanding Omega Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® came together for our Poise, Purpose & Pearls Feminine Hygiene Product Drive — and our members showed up in a BIG way!

Our goal was 2,000+ items for Springfield Public Schools Central High School students... but our chapter sisters collected, sorted, and donated a total of 3,049 items! 🎀

Every single donation is going directly toward empowering and uplifting young women in our community. Thank you to every member who gave, gathered, and showed out for this initiative. This is what service looks like. 🩷💚
