Saludos Community,
As many of you have heard, Puerto Rico is experiencing a water crisis and has been for the past few months. While we all love Puerto Rico and enjoyed celebrating Puerto Rican weekend here in the diaspora we must also stand in solidarity with Puerto Rico in times of hardship. Please hear from H. Thay-Ling from our chapter, who has lived in Puerto Rico and has also been on the ground during hurricane recovery efforts and for environmental justice movements. We want to make sure to support local groups on the ground by letting them lead, echoing their concerns, joining local efforts here in the diaspora, mobilizing when needed, and educating ourselves on the issues Puerto Rico and so many of our Latin American/Caribbean neighbors are facing.
We also want to express solidarity with our Venezuelan brothers and sisters after they have experienced twin earthquake strikes this week. If you know of local groups on the ground mobilizing, please let us know.
