The WGSS program offers an undergraduate minor and major as well as a graduate certificate in Feminist Studies.

Faculty and students in the WGSS Program explore the construction of women, gender, and sexuality in different social, cultural, political, economic, aesthetic, and historical contexts by combining methods and insights of traditional academic disciplines with innovations in interdisciplinary feminist scholarship. Our research and teaching illuminate the complex and changing local, comparative, and

transnational processes that contour gender and sexuality; examine local, comparative, and transnational settings; and analyze the diverse narratives, structures, and patterns that shape everyday life, social institutions, and cultures. The mission of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Connecticut is threefold:

to transform scholarship in existing academic disciplines by incorporating the study, contributions, and feminist analysis of gender and sexuality;
to create a new body of interdisciplinary feminist research and teaching that concentrates on women, gender, sexuality; and
to build a supportive and critical scholarly community that advances our understanding of the construction, reproduction, and resistance to inequality.

Please bring your favorite cocktail or mocktail and join us to toast the seventy-six contributors and editors of the newly launched Keywords for Gender and S*xuality Studies. From # to Woman, encompassing such terms as Biology, Disability, Femme, Imperialism, Justice, P**n, Property, S*x Work, Sports and Trans, Keywords for Gender and S*xuality Studies introduces readers to a set of terms that will aid them in understanding the central methodological and political stakes currently energizing feminist and q***r studies.

In honor of our feminist foremothers who edited, wrote and published in collectivity, the volume was edited by the Keywords Feminist Editorial Collective, which includes Kyla Wazana Tompkins (managing editor), Aren Z. Aizura, Aimee Bahng, Karma R. Chávez, Mishuana Goeman, and Amber Jamilla Musser.

The editors will talk about various teaching and research paths through the volume, and we will conclude with readings by Kemi Adeyemi ("Deviance"), K. Sue Park ("Property") and Savannah Shange ("Education") and a celebration of the many authors who contributed to this volume.
