Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated - Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.-Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter Suffolk, VA. Chartered February 26, 1967 Also, present was Soror Hilda C.

On February 26, 1967, twelve happy, smiling sorors were inducted in Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. The chartering ceremony was held in the home of Soror Sallie Graham, which came to be known by our chapter as the "Zeta House." Soror Audrey Robinson performed the ceremony-assisted by Soror Della Bannister of Virginia State College (University). Abram of Delta Mu Z

eta Chapter, New York City. Proudly we can say that she is now a very active member of our chapter. Surely Suffolk will little note, but those sorors who were involved will long remember that event in the history of their lives. It all seemingly began with Soror Mary Wilson Copeland who had just graduated from Virginia State College (University) as a member of the Phi Chapter, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Soror Wilson and Soror Graham started a "Zeta Round-Up." Some sorors were known while others were discovered. Nevertheless, twelve were rounded-up, one at the very last minute, but as college coeds would say, "Just in time to make the line." A few had previously been associated with Beta Theta Zeta Chapter, Norfolk, VA. Some had only been affiliated with undergraduate chapters while in college. Our hymn states, "When Zeta calls, we'll answer one and all." The twelve who answered the call made history, for they became the charter members of Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter.

On August 29, Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter proudly participated in a Community Day hosted by our valued community partner, the NAACP Nansemond-Suffolk Branch.

We were honored to join fellow community organizations, health professionals, and local partners in sharing mental health information, resources, and guidance with the Suffolk community. Events like this allow us to connect, educate, encourage, and remind our community that mental health and wellness are essential to overall well-being.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside our community partners and contribute to a day focused on health, hope, connection, and empowerment.

On this day, we give honor and celebrate the birth of our triumphant founder, Viola Tyler Goings, as we continue to expand our footprint worldwide as a leading community-conscious, action-oriented organization affecting change.

It is because of the trailblazing forethought and determined ex*****on of an idea by five Howard University co-ed’s that Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, stands as one of the world’s most respected national panhellenic sororities today!

Help us wish our illustrious sister a heavenly “Happy Birthday”!

Black philanthropy has always been rooted in collective responsibility and shared progress. From mutual aid societies to modern giving circles, our communities have built institutions when systems excluded us. Economic Justice means not only earning wealth - but circulating it with purpose.

Today, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated celebrates Women’s Equality Day with purpose, power, and pride.

As Finer Women, we know equality is not a quiet request. It is a call to lead boldly, serve fiercely, and keep pressing forward until every woman has the freedom, access, and opportunity she deserves.

So today, dress your crown. Wear your power. Strut in your essence. Stand in the legacy of the women who opened to doors, and keep building new ones for those coming behind us.
Because when women rise, communities shift. When women lead, history moves. đź’™
