Worthwhile information. Educate yourself.

๐Ÿง  **Fact check:** Did you know that addiction was officially classified as a health condition *40 years ago*?

Yet, here we are four decades later, and **1 in 4 people** still donโ€™t recognize it as a medical issue, according to data from the Addiction Policy Forum and Gallup.
https://www.addictionpolicy.org/post/1-in-4-u-s-adults-don-t-recognize-addiction-as-a-health-condition

Here is the real science behind it:

* **Rewiring the Brain:** Just like severe trauma can physically alter your brain chemistry, substances do the exact same thing. Itโ€™s not a "lack of willpower"โ€”itโ€™s a literal rewiring of the brain's neural pathways.

Itโ€™s time to retire the stigma and treat addiction for what it actually is: a healthcare issue.

Letโ€™s start changing the conversation. โค๏ธ

Similar to opioids and intoxicating hemp-derived THC products, a well-funded and growing kratom industry with lobbying power overstates the safety of kratom, downplays its risks, and resists regulation and restrictions.

The stigma around mental health in men gets drilled into them when they are young. It's common for them to hear things like "Man up." "Suck it up." โ€œReal men donโ€™t cry.โ€ Men need to know it is okay to have feelings. Asking for help is a sign of strength. Check on the men in your life. Stop by our office and pick up an "even cowboys cry" sticker. Admin 109.

"Last night, I made a simple, but ultimately stupid and very costly mistake. I cleaned out an old medication box and set the bag of old medication aside for disposal later. Then forgot about it. My 1 year old GSD got into the bag and chewed up one of the bottles, ingesting a toxic dose of iron from an old iron supplement. My pet recently ingested a toxic level of iron, and he's now in serious danger."
