Dr. Kenya L. Goodson is a native of Tuscaloosa, AL. She earned her Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama being the first African-American woman to receive a Ph.D. in her department. Dr. Goodson currently serves as faculty at the University of Montevallo where she teaches environmental science. Dr. Goodson taught environmental science as faculty at the University

of Montevallo and STEM courses at Stillman College. She also taught science and mentored college-bound first-generation college students in the Stillman College Upward Bound program. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Black Warrior Riverkeeper, The Cahaba River Society, and Conservation Alabama where she advocates for environmental education, environmental justice, and outreach. Dr. Goodson is one of the founding members of the Tuscaloosa chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby. She and fellow “CCLers” lobby our members of Congress to pass climate change legislation and also encourage state and local leaders to implement climate change policy.
