Shasta College holds Community Forums for Bond Measure C

Measure C, the Shasta College Education & Workforce Opportunity Bond, will appear on the November 3, 2026, General Election ballot. Community members are invited to attend one of our upcoming Community Forums to learn more about Measure C, ask questions, and get information directly from Shasta College representatives.

Thursday, September 10 at 5:30pm
Shasta College Community Leadership Center, 5th Floor
1401 California Street, Redding, CA 96001 (Enter on Tehama Street)

Saturday, September 26 at 9:30am
Shasta College Main Campus, Building 800, Room 801
11555 Old Oregon Trail, Redding, CA 96003

Measure C is not a new bond, but an extension of the expiring 2002 Measure A bond. By extending the term of Measure A, the tax rate paid by taxpayers for Shasta College bonds will not increase. Measure C is estimated to cost $7.76 annually per $100,000 of assessed property value—not market value. For the average home in the District, this equates to approximately $2.45 per month. A home with an assessed value of $500,000 would pay approximately $3.25 per month.

This $129 million general obligation bond measure will modernize 60-year-old buildings and facilities while expanding the college’s ability to support public safety services for the region. Projects include building a new agriculture classroom, enhancing hands-on career training by expanding automotive/diesel and welding programs, establishing a new extension site in Corning, and supporting local businesses by strengthening workforce training for in-demand jobs in our community. All new construction and remodels will aim to satisfy stringent energy efficiency targets to reduce the impact on electrical and water resources at the different campuses.

The college welcomes all community members to attend, ask questions, and learn more about Measure C.

For further information, please contact Theresa Markword, Associate Vice President of Facilities & Capital Construction, at (530) 242-7699.
