McLaren Flint Internal Medicine Residencyuni Program Behavioral Health Academic Program Director Molly Gabriel-Champine, PhD, LP is the recipient of service award from the Michigan Psychological Association (MPA). The Beth Clark Service Award honors MPA members who demonstrate volunteerism, activism, and/or advocacy selflessly in the service of the organization and its initiatives.
Gabriel-Champine is the Michigan Federal Advocacy Coordinator for the American Psychological Association (APA). She is a liaison between the APA and the MPA. She is also a Member of the MPA board, focusing on advocacy efforts at a federal level.

She recently gave an oral presentation at the 2025 Association of American Medical Colleges Central Collaborative Meeting in Detroit, a major conference focused on medical education. Dr. Wasson-Wilbanks, who helps guide our medical students in their career paths, co-presented with Dr. Berkley Browne from Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and fourth-year medical student David Warner. We're so proud of their work to advance medical education and empower the next generation of healthcare leaders!

We have been doing research for a long time!

In the 1960s, MSU researchers developed cisplatin, one of the world’s most effective cancer-fighting drugs.

It transformed treatment for millions of patients and launched a wave of Spartan-led research that’s still saving lives today.

Before medical school, Brandon Leung spent five years working at the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program in several roles.

“It was such an immense privilege to work with some of the most vulnerable and marginalized members of my community,” he said. “It was during these years that my love for patient care grew.”

At MSU College of Human Medicine, he deepened that commitment, supported by the Flint Campus’s strong sense of community and purpose. He even returned to his former workplace, this time for a street medicine elective as a future physician.

Now, he’s headed to a psychiatry residency at The University of Vermont Medical Center, where he hopes to continue building trust and caring for those too often overlooked.

Congratulations to our CHM Flint Campus graduate!

Carly Davis, MD, FACOG, has been named the new residency program director for WMed's OB-GYN residency program.

In addition to her work with WMed learners, Dr. Davis will see patients one day a week at her gynecology practice in the Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic at the medical school’s Oakland Drive Campus.
