Thanks to a $17,000 investment from Northwest Oregon Works, three of our Heavy Diesel Equipment students will now have the opportunity to earn their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) — opening doors to in-demand careers across Oregon’s maritime sector.

This funding was made possible through House Bill 3410, supporting workforce development across Benton, Clatsop, Columbia, Lincoln, and Tillamook counties.

We were honored to welcome Len Tumbarello, Oregon’s first-ever Maritime Program Coordinator, who made the check presentation and is leading efforts to connect job seekers with meaningful maritime career paths.

🎉 LBCC Night at the Ballpark was a hit! ⚾️

On Monday, June 16, we joined the Corvallis Knights at Goss Stadium for an unforgettable night of fun, community, and celebration!

📸 Highlights included:

🔵 A triple threat mascot showdown with Rocky the Roadrunner, Mack, and Lil' King

🔵 President Dr. Lisa Avery throwing the ceremonial first pitch!

🔵 A powerful performance of the national anthem by the LBCC Choir

🔵 And the biggest moment of the night: several lucky winners each receiving a $1,000 grant toward tuition at LBCC! 🎓💸

Huge thanks to the Corvallis Knights Baseball for partnering with us on a night full of memories—and opportunities!

These students have completed hands-on training, built real clinical skills, and are now ready to step into a growing career in dental healthcare. We’re proud of the work they’ve put in and excited to see what’s next for each of them!

🌍 Curious about other cultures?

Intro to Cultural Anthropology (ANTH 110) encourages students to explore how people live, believe, and connect all over the world.

In this project, students taught their classmates about a culture they chose—leading real conversations and sharing fresh perspectives.

It’s the kind of class that opens your eyes and helps you see the world (and people) a little differently.

🌈 Yesterday, we celebrated LBCC Pride 2025 in the courtyard with powerful displays of student-led creativity and advocacy. Two beautiful murals—Marsha P. Johnson on the right and Sylvia Rivera on the left—were unveiled after multiple terms of work by the GSA Club. 🖌️

These murals are more than art—they’re symbols of courage, progress, and the ongoing pursuit of equity and inclusion.

Huge thanks to our Student Leadership Council for organizing this celebration and helping make our college a place where all students feel seen, valued, and supported. ❤️

Did you know LBCC has a nationally competitive Livestock Judging Team? These dedicated students—from OR, CA, MT, NV, and ID—travel over 30,000 miles across 15 states in just two years, visiting ranches and sharpening their skills.

Livestock judging is where students evaluate breeding and market animals, then use critical thinking and public speaking to defend their rankings in front of industry professionals. They put in countless hours of practice while balancing academics, all leading up to five major national contests in Kansas City, Louisville, Oklahoma City, Denver, and Houston.

We’re proud of their hard work and many will continue their academics and judging career at the university level.
