Coming up in July is the Writers’ Community Virtual Café, where we’ll be able to debrief all we heard from Dr. Kevin Heyne during our session in May. As many of you work (and re-work!) your dissertations into a readable book and aptly apply some of the principles or tips gained from Friday’s discussion, we’d love to hear how you did so. Bring your personal applications and discoveries to the table—along with a cup of coffee—as we learn from one another in our very participative, informal setting!

June 2025 BGU PhD graduate and oil industry executive, Michael Ikechukwu Ikebudu, is serious about changing the culture of business in Nigeria through biblical perspectives of transformational leadership and innovation.

Dr. Michael Ikebudu's PhD research demonstrated that "nurturing a positive innovation culture includes integrating employees’ vision and aspirations into the organizational vision encouraging risk-taking, cultivating and nurturing diversity, and practicing innovation mentoring." As Dr. Ikebudu proceeds to transform his country through impactful outreaches, many more African top business leaders trained at the highest levels by BGU have the opportunity to contribute to the transformation of their countries and eventually their continent.

The moderator for both days was Dr. Marlene Hines, Alumni President and BGU Professor. The program included a keynote, the presentation of BGU President, Dr. Bryan McCabe, and of BGU Academic Dean, Dr. Belete Mebratu. The proceedings of both days were blessed by an opening prayer offered by Dr. Marimuthu Arumuganadar, a member of the BGU Board of Regents from India and a founding Alumni Council member, Dr. Andrea Mullings from the U.S.A.

are recommending you two interesting Executive MBA courses that will start in July:

* MBA 625 Global Economics & Wealth
This course will briefly review the development of economic thinking from ancient times to the 21st century to get a better understanding of current economic thinking. A special focus is given to collaborative capitalism, the topic of sustainable and impact investment, and its current forms and practices and the Economics of Mutuality theory and practical application. The alternatives to current mainstream shareholder value-driven economics will also be reviewed, and the questions of leadership responsibility and accountability will also be discussed and analysed. This course intends to challenge the thinking of students to step out of the existing paradigms towards a new economic system that is much closer to the original purpose and status of Creation.

* MBA 637 Measurement, Metrics & Data Analytics
Organizations are inundated with data in today’s measurement-above-all-else world. But are we measuring the right things? Can everything important be measured…and consequently managed? How do we measure success? What tools are available? With the fast-changing landscape of business, an evaluation of more than lag indicators—those that tell us where we’ve been—is needed. This class will take a look at what organizations are measuring, different types of assessments used to establish metrics, a discussion of big data and how we can use data analytics from a layman's perspective. The class involves reading, discussion, presentations, case studies, videos, and guest speakers.

Come and learn with us! Our upcoming city immersion will take place between October 24 and November 2!

In the October term this year, we will host a unique urban immersion involving three U.S. cities in North Carolina: Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, a first of its kind for BGU. Located in less than 25 miles from each other, these three cities share a commonality that makes an interesting city classroom for our immersion.

North Carolina, nicknamed the Tarheel State because it was a major producer of tar, pitch, rosin, and turpentine, is also the birthplace of stock car racing and the place where Pepsi was invented. These three cities collectively own the State’s 12 research universities and the third-largest community college system in the country. Raleigh is home to the oldest Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs) in the South, making it one of the most sought-after states for college-bound students from all over the world.
