This story may be from May—but its impact is still going strong.

CMU faculty and staff joined women leaders from across the state for the MI-ACE Women’s Leadership Retreat, focused on connection, wellness, and leadership.

CBA Associate Dean Misty Bennett said the best part was realizing how many people on campus share similar challenges. “It was powerful,” she said. “And supportive.”

Graphic designer Jayden Ellsworth shared that the experience left them feeling “seen, appreciated and encouraged.”

We’re proud to share their reflections and celebrate the meaningful work that’s happening to lift up women across higher ed.

For incoming business students, New Student Orientation is more than a schedule walkthrough—it’s the first step toward building community, confidence, and career momentum.

During orientation, students meet faculty, advisors, and peer leaders who help them feel welcomed, supported, and ready to succeed.

“We’re not just checking a box—we’re building real collaboration skills that companies look for,” said Lori Driessnack, associate director of student engagement and professional development.

AACSB accreditation is the gold standard for business education—and Central Michigan University holds not just one, but two distinctions.
● Less than 6% of business schools worldwide have AACSB accreditation.
● Fewer than 2% hold separate AACSB accreditation in accounting.

At CMU, this means rigorous standards, strong industry connections, and an unwavering focus on student success. Our recent reaccreditation reflects years of improvement and innovation across the College of Business—and continued excellence from The Philip L. Kintzele School of Accounting.

Explore how our programs go beyond expectations.

On June 27, 2025, three Central Michigan University faculty members—Frederick Lawrence and James Taelman (Marketing, Hospitality & Logistics), and Chia-Ching (Edward) Chou (Management)—and Interim Director of the Career Development Center Erica O'Toole visited the Amazon DTW1 Fulfillment Center in Romulus, Michigan.

Hosted by Amazon’s University Recruiting Team, the visit included a roundtable discussion focused on enhancing Amazon’s internship program and strengthening partnerships with higher education. Faculty had the opportunity to share feedback, ask questions, and gain insight into the expectations and opportunities available to students entering the fast-paced world of e-commerce logistics and operations.

The visit also included a guided site tour led by the Amazon DTW1 Operations Team, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the cutting-edge technology, scale, and processes powering Amazon’s fulfillment network.

At CMU, we believe strong employer engagement is key to keeping our curriculum aligned with the evolving needs of industry. These connections help ensure our students graduate career-ready and equipped with the skills that matter most in today’s job market.
