Why Join the Knights of Pythias

The Knights of Pythias is a fraternal charitable organization made for a one purpose, to heal a divided Nation.
When our order was born, in 1864, this great country of ours was in turmoil, and as the scurge of slavery was being
stamped out of the south, the violence was so intense, that fr=acture so deep that there was fear our young nation would never-
recover. Fine men, right here in Washington, D.C. knew that there would need to be foundation of brotherhood to be spread
across states to make us a solid structure again.

Men of the order were soldiers, veterans, mill workers, farmer, state and federal politicians and policy makers, Freemasons, Odd Fellows,
Caucasian and African American men, Christian and Jewish men all coming together to call each other "BROTHER!"

Men from all walks of life learn the tenants of Friendship, Charity and Benevolence through the ranks of our knighthood,
and the legend of Damon and Pythias of Syracuse was known throughout the world as known Brother, FDR
sat in the office of the Presidency and proud brother George S. Patton presided as a General fighting tyranny in WWII.

Though our order has gone through many changes throughout history and it remains to this day! We still seek to unite the men of the country,
once again, under the unifying banner of brotherhood. Brotherhood!...So that we might put our differences aside, political
differences, physical differences, cultural differences and learn about each other and from each other as brothers!

Joining the Knights of Pythias will widen your world, make you stronger as a citizen and help you to better support
your community. We support local and national charities and want to see our fraternal family thrive.

KoP is about to have some awesome new members!

We are looking forward to Monday, the 25th! We're making history by starting a new lodge inside the Beltway! While the KoP was founded in D.C. the nearest active lodge is in Laurel, MD at the moment. If you want to join us in Falls Church get on the charter and get some bros in the process, message us for more info!

The Knights of Pythias are a fraternal, charitable organization founded here, in Washington, D.C. in 1864 chartered by Congress and President Abraham Lincoln to be a fraternity to bring the country together after the Civil War tore it apart.
Since then, the KoP spread across the country and even around the world with their tenets of Friendship, Charity and Benevolence.

We are now looking to reestablish lodges inside the District of Columbia and the DC metro area. The Supreme Lodge Knights of Pythias is working with knights from Virginia and Maryland to meet potential brothers and grow interest in our order.
