Tickets to the Dumbarton House: Dumbarton House

Here's a good deal in case anyone is interested. Today Dumbarton House is one of the few stately brick homes in Washington to survive the heady days when the country and its capital were new. The design of the house reflects the shift from Georgian tradition to the Adamesque Federal style that would take hold as the new republic defined itself. From the parlor to the dining room, through the music room to the bedrooms upstairs, visitors to Dumbarton House today see a wealth of furniture, paintings, textiles, silver, and ceramics that were made and used in the republic’s formative years. http://dumbartonhouse.org/about.htm

50% savings: Downton Abbey may be all the rage -- but you can live out your mansion fantasies right here in DC. With today's deal, pay $5 ...

Just a reminder that there is no C3 Today!

And, in case you're wondering WHY you have a long weekend: Monday is Washington's Birthday, a federal holiday observed the third Monday of February to honor George Washington, the first President of the United States. This date is commonly called Presidents' Day and many groups honor the legacy of past presidents on this date.

General information

Join international and American students in a weekly Cross-Cultural Dialogue Group called Conversation, Community, and Culture (C3). Each week we discuss a different aspect of American culture while simultaneously practicing our English language skills. Domestic also students benefit from this program by sharing information on their native country while meeting interesting students from around the world. In this group, we will also explore international cuisines through potluck dinners and outings to area ethnic restaurants. Previously discussed topics have included dating in the U.S., American holidays, networking and interviewing for jobs, and understanding American idioms and slang. Topics for the fall semester will be chosen during the first few meetings. Come enjoy snacks and refreshments with your international and American friends!
