Today is recognized as Women’s Equality Day. However, equality has never been experienced equally by all women.
The progress of some has too often come while Black women, women of color, LGBTQ+ women, transgender women, disabled women, immigrant women, and women living at the intersections of multiple marginalized identities continued fighting to be seen, protected, heard, and included.
So today, we’re thinking beyond equality and calling for equity.
Because giving everyone the same opportunity means little when we were never given the same starting line, the same resources, or the same protections.
Our liberation cannot leave women behind.
Equality may open the door. Equity asks who can actually get through it.
