Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB) is an international leader in education and research, training future leaders to be global problem solvers and socially responsible managers. We value profits, but on top of them, we also value how they’re made. That’s why we’re adding a new dimension to how we measure success: not just in profits

and power, but also in responsibility and its integral role in shaping society. It helps us gain a better understanding of the true cost and value of our decisions, and the awareness to make them smarter moving forward. Adding this to every decision we make is helping us stand out. Because when we look past the balance sheets everyone else is focused on—when we look deeper into what’s actually driving them—we give ourselves an edge in competitive markets across the globe. And that’s our idea of good business.

From fintech to florals, Our Short Term Study Away Program (STAP) in Singapore gave students a firsthand look at how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) thrive in a vibrant global hub.

Led by Professor Yung Zhang and supported by GWSB Global and Experiential Education staff and generous donors, students visited dtcpay, Terrascope, CCFT, Color Technologies, and the Singapore FinTech Association, while exploring Singapore’s culture from Chinatown to Kampong Glam.

Huge thanks to all the leaders, alumni, and partners who made this experience a success!

This Juneteenth, we honor the past, celebrate the present, and build for a more inclusive future.

June 19, 2025, marks 160 years since news of emancipation reached the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas. It’s a moment in history that reminds us to reflect, learn, and continue the journey toward equity and justice.

At GW Business, we recognize Juneteenth as a time to celebrate Black resilience, innovation, and leadership; not just in our community, but in business and beyond.

To explore Juneteenth’s history and impact, resources like the Smithsonian’s Juneteenth Digital Toolkit offer a great starting point.

Let’s keep the conversation going this month and every month.
