The third annual Georgetown University Africa Business Conference, African Value Chain: Harnessing Local Talent & Opportunity, will be held in Washington, D.C. on the 3rd of February 2018. The conference is hosted by Georgetown's McDonough School of Business in conjunction with the Walsh School of Foreign Service’s African Studies Program. The purpose of this event is to showcase the growth and impact of the private sector across the African continent and facilitate a discussion on opportunities to continue this success. African Value Chain: Harnessing Local Talent & Opportunity will highlight and build consciousness around homegrown expertise and innovation within the private sector on the continent. GTABC2020 PANELISTS

Rob Tashima received his BA from UC Berkeley, an MSc from the London School of Economics and a CEP from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Bordeaux, France.

Currently, he leads growth initiatives across the innovation, revenue, and marketing teams as Chief Growth Officer at Village Capital. His work revolves around exploring new ways of supporting entrepreneurs and investors in new markets and with new partners, utilizing a unique toolkit and methodology as part of his teams experimental process.

At #GTABC2020, Rob Tashima will be translating over 10 years of work experience into useful strategies for tackling investment issues in a dozen frontier markets across the African continent, recalling his former role as Managing Editor and Head of Research(Africa) at an emerging markets consultancy firm.

GTABC2020 KEYNOTE

The keynote address at the 2020 Georgetown Africa Business Conference will be delivered by Kevin Okyere, CEO Springfield Energy Group.

Kevin Okyere is a renowned philanthropist and entrepreneur in the Energy sector with strong skills in business strategy, finance, and negotiations for the development of high-end commercial and developmental projects.
His company, Springfield Group owns an 82% interest and operatorship in the West Cape Three Points Block 2 offshore Ghana (WCTP2) oil block, which covers 673 square kilometers in the Gulf of Guinea’s Tano Basin - making it the first ‘homegrown’ Ghanaian company to explore for oil according to Forbes (2018).

At the conference Kevin Okyere will bring his tunnel vision and homegrown insight to the table, where business strategies that he has personally implemented and succeeded at will be discussed and addressed across relevant panels.

#GTABC2019 #BandAlert🎺🎸🎹🚨we are excited to announce that the DC-based Go-Go band, “The Experience Band and Show”, will be performing! The band was founded by Travis Gardner and Thaddeus J. Cradle Sr. In the band's short time together they have made a hit single entitled “Good Times”, along with being the house band for The Big Chief Bar in ‪Ivy City‬, DC. They have opened for world renowned artists such as ‪Raheem DeVaughn‬ and Carolyn Malichi, just to name a few. The Experience Band and Show members are: Travis Gardner, Thaddeus J. #GTABC2019 Meet our second keynote speaker, Andrew G Inglis, CEO of Kosmos Energy. Mr. Inglis has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Before joining Kosmos in 2014, Mr. Inglis served as Chief Executive of the Integrated Energy Services business and a member of the board of directors at Petrofac. Prior to Petrofac, Mr. Inglis spent 30 years with BP, most recently as CEO of exploration and production business, and, from 2007 through 2010 as an executive director on the company’s board. Mr. Inglis is a former non-executive director of BAE Systems plc and TNK-BP Ltd. Mr. Inglis is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
