We take pride in our Mexican heritage, but we take even greater pride in being part of the growing impact of the Latinx community at Georgetown. Through our events and performances, we make our presence and histories known.

Thank you to all those that came to our Plaza Hoya showcase yesterday. We hope to see you again in the future!

ONE MONTH UNTIL POSADA!

To get the excitement started, we're throwing it back to our performance at the Latinx Welcome Dinner last month where our members represented the regions of Nayarit and Jalisco. For all this and more, don't forget to come out to Posada on December 2nd!

Our member of the week is Mandy Escobedo, a freshman in the SFS who hails from San Diego. If she could be any animal, she’d be a tiger because she was born in the year of the tiger and is "polite until I bite”.

We’re so proud of how far Mandy has come and we’re excited to see her perform at her first showcase! Catch her at Posada on December 2nd!

New week, new member 💃

Anabel Telles is a Bay Area sophomore double majoring in government and Justice and Peace Studies. If she could be any animal, she’d be a dog because “I would be able to chill all day long and everyone would always be excited to see me”.

We’ve had so much fun getting to know Anabel during practice, especially when she comes to class with some good chisme 💁‍♀️
You can watch Anabel dance Chiapas during Posada on December 2nd!

This week’s featured member is Carmen Mata! Carmen is a sophomore in the SFS from Wayne, Michigan majoring in Culture and Politics. If she could be any animal, she’d be a dolphin because she loves swimming and thinks that they’re so beautiful and graceful.

Carmen has been such an amazing addition to our familia and we can’t wait to see her dance Jalisco and Nayarit during Posada on December 2nd!

This week, we’re proud to feature Diego Velázquez as one of the newest members of our familia! Diego is a freshman from Guadalajara, Mexico majoring in International Politics. If he could be any animal, he’d be an eagle because “it has been a symbol of America, France and Mexico, the three countries whose heritage I share.”

Attendees of the Latinx Welcome Dinner this past Saturday got a sneak peek of Diego’s incredible dancing skills, and if he left you wanting more, catch him during Posada on December 2nd!

Did you know that Posada is two months from today? To begin the countdown, we’re going to be featuring a member of the 2017-2018 familia every week!

Our featured member this week is Leslie Telleria! Leslie is a freshman from Leesburg, Virginia majoring in sociology and Spanish. If she could be any animal, she’d be an alligator because "alligators are modern dinosaurs and that never ceases to amaze me. Wow.”

We’re certain that Leslie’s dancing will amaze you just as much as alligators have amazed her. Catch her during Posada on December 2nd!

#FlashbackFriday to when BFMG was invited to perform at the White House five years ago! The Battle of Puebla was considered a huge achievement for México since the outnumbered Mexican army won a victory against the French, providing a much-needed morale boost for México. Still a source of pride today, "El Día de la Batalla de Puebla" is widely celebrated in the state of Puebla...and the U.S weirdly enough. #CincoDeMayo
