The Health Sciences Center Minority Students Program

The Health Sciences Center Minority Students Program The HSCMSP Student Lounge is open Monday to Friday from 8AM to 5PM. Stop by to study on our comfy couches or finish an assignment on one of our computers.

Founded in 1979 by Health Sciences Administration (HSA) in collaboration with the Board of Health Sciences Deans, the purpose of the Health Sciences Center Minority Students Program (HSCMSP) was to increase the number of underrepresented minority (URM) students in the Health Sciences professional degree programs. By the early 1990’s, the majority of Health Sciences Schools began developing school-

specific, directed recruitment. Hence, HSCMSP had the opportunity to establish a niche for itself through successful acquisition of grant funding which would allow HSCMSP to focus its efforts on the development of academically and experientially competitive undergraduate scholars in Health Sciences. In 2003, the HSCMSP became a division of the larger, campus-wide Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity.

The UW Virtual Winter Job & Internship Fair is coming up in less than 4 weeks – Tues, Feb 2, 12:30-4:30pm (Pacific). The fair is an exciting opportunity to network with 40+ employers (via 10-minute 1:1 video chats and 30-minute group sessions), who are all looking to recruit UW-Seattle students and alumni for full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities. As opposed to in-person fairs, virtual fairs have the distinct advantage of allowing students to have dedicated scheduled time with employers of interest!

Participation Requires Advanced Registration

Student registration will open at 8am (Pacific) on Tues, Jan 19. At that time, you can sign up for group sessions or individual sessions with employers, on a first-come first-served basis.
