Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s Omicron Iota Omega Chapter was chartered on June 2, 1984 in West Monroe, Louisiana, born from the forward-looking vision of eighteen women committed to expanding the reach of the Sorority’s ideals of sisterhood and service to what was then one of the most polarized cities in the region. These early pioneers were confident in the new chapter’s future as an

inspiration to the community as well as surrounding chapters. And just as the sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has responded to the world’s increasing complexity through meaning and effective programs, the ladies of Omicron Iota Omega Chapter have for over three decades sought ever better ways to enrich and empower their community and the society at large.
