Well, another summer season has come to an end… Although we fell short in the strongly competitive Southeast Regional, this year was filled with success along the way… The Wheeling Post 1 program has continued its winning tradition, thanks to the players’ ongoing dedication and hard work… This year marked 4 straight seasons amassing 30+ wins and accomplishing the “3-Peat” as WV State Champions, now 20th time in program history!!

The Coaches and Post 1 organization would like to thank ALL the support from the great Wheeling community… From family and friends attending the games, to the love and support shown through our social media networks, to the local news/press coverage, we thank you… Your unwavering love and support doesn’t go unnoticed!!

Second, the Coaches and Post 1 organization would like to thank all the new faces that came aboard and bought into our program/culture… It brings extreme happiness seeing young men bond from rival schools, truly turning enemies into everlasting friendships… Our success would not have come to fruition without your efforts… We hope you and others continue to play Legion baseball, making endless memories, while competing for more future State Championships and beyond.

Last, the Coaches and Post 1 organization would like to say thanks to all the non-returning players for next season… Whether you were here for just one summer or multiple years within the organization, it’s never easy saying goodbye, and it won’t be easy to fill the big shoes you’ve left behind… You’ve been amazing role models for our younger players, showing them what it takes to be a true leader… Because of you, the tradition will live on and the torch will be passed… Although you’ll be missed, we wish you the best of luck and infinite success in your next steps of life, and we will ALWAYS be here for you if needed… We know you will do well and make everyone around you proud!!

Wheeling took a commanding 3-0 lead into the 6th inning, before giving up a 5 spot… The boys kept battling and loaded the bases in the 7th only down a single run, but ultimately couldn’t cash in, dropping Game 1 of the Southeast Regional to the North Carolina State Champion by a final score of 6-5…. We will be back in action tomorrow morning at 9:30am in an elimination game vs Dorado, Puerto Rico
