Many of you have had the honor of knowing Dr. Linnea GlenMaye, who has served Wichita State University since 1998. Join us in congratulating her on her retirement! Her retirement celebration will be held on August 14th, but If you would like to send cards or letters, you may send them to our office at 1845 Fairmount, Box 154, and we will make sure they are delivered to her reception. Dr. Glenmaye was instrumental in the development of our Master of Social Work program. In 2004, she was tenured and promoted to associate professor, and in that same year, was appointed Director of the School of Social Work, a position she held until beginning her current position as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs in Summer 2011.

Carter Duff wasted no time after transferring to Wichita State, landing a paid internship with Homeland Security Investigations. Carter said the paid nature of the internship made a huge difference. “It took a significant amount of stress off me. Because this internship was paid, it allowed me to focus on learning and enjoying the experiences I had at HSI and allowed me to maintain a high GPA.”

The Wichita State Philosophy Department is having its Philosophy Summer Camp at Wichita State Connect, where students will engage in various philosophical discussions with faculty from the WSU Philosophy Department.

This is a FREE event open to any high school student entering their junior or senior year, within the Shocker Neighborhood and beyond. 📢Lunch will be provided!

🗓When: August 14th & 15th
📍Where: Wichita State Connect, located across from the Student Wellness Center on campus
⏰Time: 9:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Dr. Michael Birzer built a distinguished law enforcement career before finding his true calling in research and education. Since joining Wichita State in 2004, Birzer has become a leading voice in racial profiling research and evidence-based policing — shaping training across Kansas and beyond.

Today, as director of the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Hub (UReCA), he’s focused on creating opportunities for students to engage in hands-on, interdisciplinary research that sparks critical thinking and real-world problem solving.
