The University of the Cumberlands Cohort of 2027 DPT students joined students from health professions programs (nursing, OT, dietary sciences) at Eastern Kentucky University at the EKU College of Health Sciences Scholars Day 2026 on April 14th. It was a great time to interact, learn, and work through a patient case together!
As a bonus, a trip to Buc-ee's on the way back to Williamsburg was a nice side trip!

The Connie D. Hauser Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is a professional graduate program with a dynamic curriculum that includes courses in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, neuroscience, and social psychology, among others. As a student in the program, you will engage in self-guided online coursework, live classes in a virtual classroom, and hands-on training on campus. The curriculum includes didactic (book-learning) coursework, immersive experiences, clinical education, and practical training in various practice settings. In just two years of full-time classes, you could learn everything you need to know to become a licensed DPT.
Join staff from the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program for a virtual or in-person information session to learn more about the program and the application process.
Representatives from our program will present an overview of the program and answer questions you have concerning admissions. Information sessions will be held in a virtual format. Once you are registered, you will receive a link for remote sessions.

Last month, students from our DPT Class of 2026 participated in an immersive pediatric physical therapy experience! Throughout the week, students engaged in hands-on interactions with patients and caregivers, observed gross motor development in typically developing children, conducted observational gait analysis, and applied problem-solving skills to develop intervention and treatment strategies for patient cases. Students also gained valuable clinical insight during a visit to Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Respiratory Care Center.

A highlight of the week was the opportunity to design and build a GoBabyGo! adapted vehicle. This customized device was provided to a child in the community, where it is now being used to support cause-and-effect mobility training in collaboration with his pediatric physical therapist.

Experiences like this reflect our program’s commitment to meaningful, community-centered learning and preparing students to make a lasting impact in pediatric care.

πŸŽ‰ **University of the Cumberlands Doctor of Physical Therapy Pledge Ceremony** πŸŽ‰

On February 27, 2026, the University of the Cumberlands Doctor of Physical Therapy Program held its annual Pledge Ceremony β€” a meaningful milestone for both our students and faculty.

The Cohort of 2026 proudly received their white coats as they prepare to begin clinical experiences, symbolizing their transition into the next phase of professional training and patient care. This achievement reflects their dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving others through the field of physical therapy.

We also welcomed our newest DPT cohort as they joined the program and took their pledge, marking the beginning of their journey toward becoming compassionate and skilled physical therapists.

Congratulations to all of our students on this special occasion. We are so proud of each of you and look forward to watching you grow and serve in the profession! πŸ’™πŸ‘
