Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Zeta Omega Chapter was chartered on April 28, 1922 in Wilmington, Delaware. We have been serving the Delaware community for over 90 years. in Wilmington, DE.

The charter members were initiated into the sorority under the sponsorship of Epsilon Omega Chapter, Baltimore, MD. After a number of years of very effective community service, the original chapter ceased to function. Years later another group of members expressed an interest in forming a chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. As a tribute to the former chapter, they requested the use of the

original name, Zeta Omega. To fulfill the request, at least one member of the original chapter was required to be a part of the group filing the application. Fortunately, they were able to locate Anna Broadnax who lived in Philadelphia, PA. She was invited to join them and consented. Thus, Zeta Omega Chapter, Wilmington, DE, was reactivated on May 5, 1947. The chapter continued to take an active part in the community life of Wilmington, DE by sponsoring two annual affairs, Fashionetta's Dream (1948), featuring the latest in wearing apparel and a Debutante Ball, a premier social event for high school seniors (1950).

A beautiful moment of legacy, service, and sisterhood. 💕💚

Zeta Omega was honored to be present for the ribbon cutting of the NOMA Library and to celebrate the lasting legacy of our beloved Sister Florence T. Gaines. Her life was rooted in education, service, and a deep commitment to the Wilmington community, and it is truly special to see her impact continue to be recognized for generations to come.

We especially celebrate Sister Terry Gaines as she continues to honor her mother’s remarkable legacy with such grace and pride. What a meaningful reminder that the seeds we plant through service can continue to flourish long after us.

To all of our Zeta Omega Sister who attended, thank you for showing up in sisterhood to support this historic and heartfelt occasion. Soror Florence T. Gaines’ legacy lives on, and we are proud to celebrate a woman whose dedication to education and community continues to inspire. 💗💚

Our 2026–2027 Debutantes officially stepped into their season, and orientation set the tone for what’s ahead!

From meeting new faces to learning more about the journey, expectations, and experiences to come, the day was filled with excitement, connection, and anticipation. We are looking forward to watching each young lady grow in confidence, leadership, poise, and purpose throughout this special season. 👑

Sisterhood was in full bloom at the August Quarterly Choir rehearsal! 💐🎶

Sister Claire Carey, Sister Maisha Carey, and Sister Renee Roberts enjoyed rehearsal together. While fulfilling her hostess duties, Sister Renee presented Sister Charlotte with flowers following her hospitalization in June. Sister Patricia Griffin also received her Former President bracelet, lovingly presented by Madam President.
