⭐️What do teachers do in retirement?⭐️

Some travel. Some garden. Some spoil the grandchildren.

And then there's retired 🇻🇳 Vietnamese teacher Nguyen Thanh Tam.

Instead of slowing down, Mr Tam has spent years turning fragile eggshells into intricate works of art, including ⚽️ FIFA World Cup mascots, Olympic characters and famous personalities. What began as a classroom project with his students evolved into a remarkable hobby that has resulted in more than 1,000 handcrafted creations.

Stories like this are a reminder that teaching is often more than a profession. For many educators, the creativity, curiosity and patience developed in the classroom continue long after retirement.

It also challenges the stereotype that retirement is about doing less. Sometimes it's about finally having the time to pursue the passions that were sitting quietly in the background all along.

An inspiring story and a great example of how teachers continue to make interesting contributions to the world, even after leaving the classroom.

🎉🇰🇭 Cambodia: Where a Wedding Becomes a Community Event 🇰🇭🎉

If the saying "any excuse for a party" originated in Cambodia, I could believe it.

For many foreigners, the surprise isn't that Cambodians love to celebrate—it's the scale of the celebrations.

Take the video below, "A Whole Day Wedding Ceremony in Phnom Penh, Cambodia," as an example: https://youtu.be/FR4LN3ZRUuY?si=V13Yr49GtqN6x6Ib

What starts as a wedding can involve hundreds of guests, huge tents, street-side kitchens, and enough food and drink to keep the festivities going all day long.

And who gets invited? Family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues—and sometimes it seems like anyone with even the loosest connection to the hosts!

It's one of the things that makes Cambodia such a fascinating place to live. Celebrations aren't just family events—they're community events.

One of the biggest rewards of living and working in Cambodia is being welcomed into local communities and experiencing moments like these firsthand.

🇰🇭 A New Life in Cambodia: Antoine Le Bec's Journey from America to Phnom Penh🙏

What would make someone leave the United States and start a new life in Cambodia?

In this heartfelt and highly personal blog post, Antoine Le Bec shares his journey from America to Phnom Penh. Partly driven by a desire to explore his French roots, seek closure on a family tragedy dating back to the 1970s, and pursue a different way of life, Antoine offers an honest reflection on what he has learned since moving to Cambodia.

His story touches on family, loss, opportunity, teaching English abroad and the lessons that can emerge when we step outside our comfort zones.

Whether you're curious about Cambodia, considering teaching overseas, or simply enjoy a good human-interest story, this article is well worth a read. Many thanks to Antoine Le Bec for sharing his story with AVSE-TESOL.
