Building Samoa’s Future Workforce🇼🇸🙌🏻

Yesterday, the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship hosted a seminar on Samoa’s National Workforce Plan 2040, exploring how workforce planning supports future careers, business opportunities, and Samoa’s development.

The session highlighted key workforce challenges, including skills mismatches, labour mobility and opportunities for young people to contribute to our nation’s future.

A warm fa’afetai tele lava to our presenter, Ms Osana Liki-Ward, Assistant Secretary for Sector Governance, Partnerships and Communications at the Samoa Public Service Commission, and her team members, Sarona Esera-Filipo, Assistant Secretary for Human Resource Development and Loini Simeti, Principal Policy Analyst, for sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise with everyone who attended 👏🏽

🎀 Walking for ourselves, our families, and the ones we love! 👣💗

Today, some of our FOBE family got moving with a walk from Sheraton at Vaisigano to the Mulinu‘u Peninsula, sharing laughter and encouraging one another along the way.

In the spirit of Pinktober, we walked for our health and wellbeing, in support of those facing breast cancer, and in loving memory of those we have lost.

Every step carries love, hope, and a reminder to take care of ourselves and each other💕

There’s something special about seeing our students dance, laugh, and simply enjoy being together.

As we celebrate White Sunday this weekend, these moments remind us of the joy our children bring into our families and communities ❤️

Every child deserves to grow up knowing they are loved, supported, and given the chance to learn and follow their dreams.

As a Faculty, our prayer is that every child in Samoa has access to quality education and people who believe in them, even when they are still finding their way 📚✨

May we keep showing up for our children with patience, encouragement, and love. Sometimes, a kind word or a little support can mean more than we realise.

May our Good Lord continue to bless, protect our children, guide & order their steps, and fill their hearts with joy.

🌺 Tourism’s impact goes beyond visitor arrivals, it reaches businesses, livelihoods and communities across Samoa.

Yesterday, the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship welcomed Mrs Romania Manamareta Pose-Amosa, Principal Research & Statistics Officer at the Samoa Tourism Authority, for the seminar:

“Evaluating Samoa’s Tourism Earnings: Post-Pandemic Recovery, Visitor Expenditure, and Economic Contribution.”

Supporting the presentation was Theresa Ah Kuoi, Principal for the Product Unit in the Planning and Development Division.

The session explored Samoa’s tourism recovery following COVID-19, examining trends in visitor arrivals, tourism earnings and average visitor spending. It also highlighted tourism’s wider economic contribution through employment and the benefits flowing to other sectors.

A valuable opportunity to connect research with the realities of Samoa’s economy and reflect on tourism’s role in our nation’s development 🇼🇸✨

🌟 Putting learning into practice!

Our Business and Office Management students brought their learning to life through role plays for their TOM203: Managing Customers final assessment, in preparation for work placement.

The assessment gave students an opportunity to practise professional communication, respond to customer needs and handle challenging situations, building confidence and skills to take into the workplace. 💼✨

Present to support our students were Madam Head of Department, Toetagata Manuao Tema, together with Lecturers Feagiai and Lefetaui.
