The Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of our seminar, “Vulnerability and Harm in Private Law.”
We were honoured to host Dr Bridget Fa’amatuainu of Auckland University of Technology on Thursday 21st May, as part of her one-week Visiting Scholar Fellowship Programme with FOBE, which commenced on 18 May. Her seminar presentation provided valuable insights into fiduciary obligations, vulnerability, accountability, and the evolving landscape of private and commercial law within Samoa and the wider Pacific region. The discussion encouraged meaningful reflection on justice, harm, and commercial relationships within contemporary legal systems.
As part of her visit, Dr Fa’amatuainu also generously presented copies of her PhD manuscript, Samoa Law Reform and Recognition of Fa’atama: A Talanoa Approach, and the book she co-authored, Commercial Law in the South Pacific, to the National University of Samoa Library and Learning Resources Centre. These contributions will serve as valuable academic resources for our students, staff, and wider university community.
Fa’afetai tele lava to Dr Fa’amatuainu for sharing her knowledge, research, and experiences with us. We also thank everyone whose support and participation helped make the seminar and handover a meaningful and successful occasion.
