We are honoured to welcome president to our school for a special lecture ‘A Journey in Architecture’. An inspiring opportunity for our students to hear first-hand reflections from one of the leading voices shaping the future of the profession. This is what architectural education is about - dialogue, ambition, and learning from the very best.

I’m delighted to share an important milestone for the Architecture community at the .

Following the visit this week:

• Our BA (Hons) Architecture has been successfully revalidated
• Our MArch Architecture and Urbanism has been fully validated for the first time

This is a significant achievement for our and a testament to the shared commitment of our students and staff. Their creativity, rigour, and collective ambition continue to shape a vibrant, outward-looking culture of architectural education at Herts.

The RIBA panel recognised our strengths with three commendations, highlighting:

🔹 Our investment in physical resources, including the Mercer Building, which is already enabling stronger peer exchange, school-wide activities, and a growing sense of community.
🔹 Our expanding international, research, and educational partnerships, offering rich learning opportunities for both students and staff.
🔹 Our scholarly contribution to national and international conversations on architectural education, particularly through published reflections on collaborative design work with communities and stakeholders.

This validation secures our programmes for the next five years and supports our ongoing development towards a four-year integrated Master’s.

My sincere thanks to our colleagues, our partners, and the panel for their constructive insights—but above all to our students and staff, whose combined dedication makes achievements like this possible.

An exciting moment for Architecture at Herts, and a strong foundation for what comes next.

✨ Degree Show 2025 – What a Success! ✨

The School of Creative Arts was absolutely buzzing as students, staff, families, friends, and external guests came together to celebrate the incredible work of our talented graduates.

In our brand-new Mercer Studio, all four Architecture programmes united for the first time in a stunning shared exhibition—packed with creativity, energy, awards, and proud moments. 🏛️

We also took time to honour our dear colleague and friend, Silvio Carta, who was central to the development of Architecture at UH. In his memory, we proudly named the Best Dissertation Prizes after him—an emotional and joyful tribute. We know Silvio would have been proud of this show. 💛

A huge thank you to our generous supporters — RIBA East, HAA, Saunders , Denton Architects, and Vandersanden — for walking this journey with us and awarding prizes to our students. Your belief in our work continues to shape our future.

Across the school, the energy was electric. The Fashion Show dazzled with a futuristic digital runway, celebrating 20 years of innovation in the programme.

Graphic Design, Illustration, and Art Therapy all contributed to a vibrant, multidisciplinary environment that reflected the ambition, creativity, and impact our graduates will carry into the world.

Thank you to every single member of our community who helped make this year’s show such a success—and to everyone who came to support us!
