The landmark event took place on 17 June 2026 at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora.

Group of 4th semester Bsc Nursing students along with faculty from Sarah Institute of Medical Sciences Bandipora organized cleanliness and plantation drive at The Dastageer Sahib Shrine (Ziyarat Dastgeer Sb) Plan Bandipora.
Nursing Cleanliness DrivesCommunity Outreach: Students cleaned the public area of the shrine and planted various saplings.
Awareness Campaigns: Alongside picking up litter, students educate the public on the hazards of improper waste disposal. They demonstrate proper hand-washing techniques and educate locals on preventing diseases like UTIs and respiratory infections.

Taking the Green movement forward during World Environment Week 2026 BSc Nursing Students and faculty of Sarah Institute of Medical Sciences Bandipora actively participated in a community service initiative near the Ahm Sharief Shrine in Bandipora. The event featured a dual-focused drive on cleanliness and plantation to improve the shrine's surroundings, promote ecological awareness, and preserve local environmental health.

Event Highlights Cleanliness Drive these come under the umbrella of Swachh Bharat Mission, India : Participants engaged in a comprehensive waste-cleanup effort around the shrine premises, removing litter to promote hygiene and a serene, spiritual environment.

Plantation Drive: Nursing students and staff planted numerous saplings around the vicinity to enhance the local green cover and combat climate change.

Community Message: As future healthcare professionals, the students highlighted the direct connection between a clean, green environment and public health.Awareness & Pledge:
The drive concluded with a collaborative pledge among the students and local community to continue protecting the environment and maintaining the cleanliness of regional heritage and religious sites.
