This mission of the Department of Housing and Residence Life is to provide undergraduate students living in university owned and affiliated housing with a safe and secure environment that is conducive to academic achievement. In addition to providing supervision and resident services in the living units, the department promotes the personal growth and development of each resident through intention

al programming efforts. In partnership with other units within the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services and the larger university community, the department strives to foster scholarship as a fundamental purpose, instills a sense of community, and supports individual integrity and excellence.

To Our UCF Community,

Our hearts are with our friends and colleagues at Florida State University following the devastating violence that took place on their campus. We stand in solidarity with the FSU community during this impossibly difficult time, sending our strength and support as they navigate the aftermath of this tragedy.

We know that this news may feel especially personal for many in our community — please know that you are not alone. We are here to listen and to help you feel safe, cared for, and supported.

At UCF, your safety and well-being are our highest priorities. Our UCF Police Department remains fully operational 24/7 and is actively patrolling campus to ensure your safety. You may notice an increased presence of officers. Please continue to be vigilant, and if you see something concerning, say something immediately by dialing 911 so police can respond.

Support Resources:

For students, UCF’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers crisis support and mental health services through appointments, walk-ins, and a 24/7 crisis hotline. To connect with a licensed therapist at any time, call 407-823-2811 and press 5.

For faculty and staff, the Employee Assistance Program through Health Advocate is a free, confidential benefit that provides counseling and personal support. You can reach them at 877-240-6863 or visit UCF Human Resources’ website: https://go.ucf.edu/3YxjcJy.

A space for reflection and support will be open to all members of the UCF community from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, in the Magnolia Room of the Live Oak Event Center located near Ferrell Commons. We invite you to come together with fellow Knights in a shared space of comfort, healing, and community.

We are a community that supports each other, especially in moments like these. Take care of yourself and your fellow Knights, and please never hesitate to reach out if you need help.
